Finish for Matt
Runners outside L’enclume restaurant in Cartmel (+1 taking the photo), Sunday 29th April 2018, before running ‘finish for Matt’.
Following the extremely-sad event a week earlier in which Matt Campbell collapsed and died while running in the 2018 London marathon, the club got involved with ‘finish for Matt’. Club members were joined by other people from the local area, to run/walk 3.7 miles: the distance which Matt still had to go when he collapsed. Matt had spent some of his earlier career working at L’Enclume restaurant in the village of Cartmel. It’s only a short jog away from Allithwaite and it’s quite often that we do a training night starting/finishing in Cartmel, so it seemed fitting to start from L’Enclume. Sincere thanks to everyone for coming and taking part, as well as to those people who couldn’t make it on Sunday, but ‘finished it for Matt’ when they could.
